The CareerBoard Advantage
Benefits of Pre-Screening
Automating the pre-screening process allows you to capture key job seeker information and assess critical job specific skills and experiences prior to the initial contact, ultimately saving you time by pooling together the most appropriate job seekers. The pre-screening process should answer the basic question; does this individual meet the minimum requirements of my position? The pre-screening process replaces the "phone screen" not the interview.
How Our Pre-Screening Process Works
Prior to submitting a resume for your position, job seekers will complete a series of job specific questions, created by you, relating to their skills, knowledge, abilities and experiences. Each answer of a question is assigned a point value and a minimum "screen in" score is created. The minimum "screen in" value is the lowest score a job seeker can receive to pass or be "screened in". You will still have access to the resumes of applicants that received a score less than the minimum value however these responses will be clearly identifiable and separated from the "screened in" applicants. Resumes are then numerically ranked based on the score received (highest to lowest).

Screening questions must meet EEOC regulations. As in any interview process questions pertaining to the following should be avoided.
  • Race, ethnic background, or national origin
  • Religion
  • Sexual orientation
  • Marital status
  • Living arrangements
  • Children
  • Health information
  • Age (unless necessary to prove eligibility to work)
Also avoid screening questions that are too specific and therefore eliminate job seekers that may in fact be qualified.
