    FAQs

Do I have to register on the site?       Back To Top

Registration is only required if you create a Job Seeker account. A Job Seeker account allows you to store your resume online for employers to view and to receive job notifications of positions that interest you. If you would like to just search through jobs and view corporate profiles, there is no need to register. We encourage you to create a Job Seeker account to fully experience the valuable benefits CareerBoard can offer during your job search. Are there any fees associated with this service? As a job seeker CareerBoard is a completely free service. You may search jobs, post your résumé and/or sign up for job notifications at no cost to you. To get started click here and choose your city.

How do I post my résumé with your site?       Back To Top

Résumés can either be created using our online template or by copying and pasting from a Word document. You may have to reformat your document after pasting into our form. We ask that you update your résumé at least every 9 months.

Who has access to my résumé?       Back To Top

Only our member companies have access to your résumé. Our technology customers sometimes act as third party recruiters. Our résumé database is maintained as a service to CareerBoard job seekers and employers, and will not be sold to a third party.

Can my current employer view my resume on the site?       Back To Top

CareerBoard allows you to make your résumé private, therefore "hiding" all of your contact information. Potential employers only view your brief description and then can send us an email, which is then forwarded onto to you. If you are interested in the opportunity it is your choice to send your résumé directly to the employer. Since the email is sent through CareerBoard, your contact information is never revealed to employers unless you authorize its release.

What types of employers post jobs on CareerBoard.com?       Back To Top

Whether you are just starting your career or looking for a new opportunity, CareerBoard puts you in contact with direct hire companies in your local area. Organizations of all sizes and industries post their openings on CareerBoard. You can search for and view jobs by industry classification or job type and consider only opportunities that are of particular interest to you.

If I find a position I am interested in, where do I send my résumé?       Back To Top

CareerBoard.com puts you in direct contact with the hiring company. Each posting contains the contact information and the preferred method of response. Some employers include a contact name, phone, fax and email address while others only include an email address or a Web reply. All inquires and follow-up should be directed to the direct hiring company. CareerBoard does not forward resumes onto our clients.

Will companies be notified when I put my résumé on the site?       Back To Top

Yes. Companies can sign-up for resume notifiers that let them know when job seekers place their résumés within a specific job category. This is a great feature and frequently speeds up the process for both employers and job seekers.

What if I forget my password?       Back To Top

Your username and password can be emailed directly to you through our system by providing your email address in the "Forget your 'Sign-in' for Personal CB?" area located under the Job Seeker account sign in. This feature is available to use 24/7.

How do I stop receiving Job Notifications?       Back To Top

Log into your Job Seeker account and then click on Job Notifiers. You have the option to create, edit or delete notifiers within this option. Choose delete. If you would like to delete your entire account including job notifiers and your résumé log into your Personal CareerBoard account and click on Edit Account. There is an option to delete your account. It's that easy! When you wish to re-start your service you will need to re-create your account.

How will I know if an employer received my résumé?       Back To Top

Since all résumés are directed to the hiring companies all inquires regarding receipt of your resume should also be directed to the hiring company. Some companies will send you an automatic reply when your résumé is received. Following up with an employer after submitting a résumé is vital to any job search.

Can I edit my résumé once it is posted on the site?       Back To Top

Yes, changes can be made to your resume at anytime by logging into your Job Seeker account and choosing the Resume option. We ask you to update your résumé at least every 9 months. Résumés older than 9 months are automatically deleted from the site, and a notice will be sent prior to the deletion.

In my job search, what is the best way to use the keyword function?       Back To Top

Keywords are a great way to narrow your focus when searching for a job. When using multiple keywords, separate the words with "AND" or "OR." Using "AND" will only return jobs that have all of the keywords while '"OR" will return job postings with just one of the keywords matching.
