PROCESS ENGINEER II

Position Description:
The process engineer provides technical and sustaining engineering support to the reagent manufacturing organization. The process engineer will be responsible for routine yield monitoring, performing complex data analysis, and defining critical metrics for trending/monitoring. The process engineer interacts with new product introduction teams and process development staff to ensure that processes and designs are compatible with manufacturing requirement to support the transfer and implementation of new processes. The process engineer will define the reagent parameter settings related to output/yield in the MRP system for process transfers. He/She must track the actual performance against established standards, and identify areas of potential improvement. The process engineer will define and conduct stability studies for critical reagents. They will also perform qualification of reagent suppliers. Routine responsibilities include continuous support of the reagent manufacturing process; performing complex data analysis on process failures; and providing summary results of findings and recommendations to MRB.

Position Requirements:
Requires a BS/MS degree in engineering or life science with 5 to 10 years of related engineering experience (prefer medical device / ISO environment). Must possess competence and experience running biological assays and test equipment. Must have reagent fluid handling, protocol, and assay experience. Processing of GeneChips is a plus.
Also must have manufacturing statistical process control experience, data analysis skills, and floor control systems (JDE preferred); ability to effectively communicate (verbal and in writing) complex information and data. Position requires occasional lab work environment running HPLC and target prep, etc. requiring PPE. Also, must be able to keyboard for extended periods of time. Position requires travel 10-35% of the time.
