Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the
direction of the Senior Director, Business Development and Training, this incumbent
is responsible for project management, data analysis, report preparation and
support data adhoc reporting. Interacts with various departments and
levels of management to ensure timely and successful project
implementation. Conducts data analysis to assist in the assessment of the
value of projects and their value to the Patient Financial Services department.
Interfaces with all levels of management, both internal and external.
Interface with the ITD department to design and integrate electronic solutions
to manual work. Interface with Clinical departments to design and integrate
solutions to enhance the daily charting and coding processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities:
- Bachelors
degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field.
Master's degree preferred. Minimum four years of project management, coding, or
health information management experience may offset the degree
requirement.
- Must have
extensive knowledge in the areas of coding, CPT's, MS-DRG's, ICD9 diagnosis and
procedure codes and chargemaster.
- Thorough
understanding of HIPAA, the legal and risk management implications of health
information and coding compliance guidelines are essential.
- Strong
working knowledge and experience in project management, of health care and
business management skills sufficient to perform in depth research, analytical
studies and report preparation.
- Demonstrated
ability to lead a team in the completion of projects as well as ability to work
independently.
- Demonstrate high level ability and working knowledge of
computer systems, software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets,
database and presentation products) and web technologies.
- Possess
superior research skills and knowledge of health care and business web sites /
research databases to conduct in depth research and analysis.
- Excellent
listening skills is essential.
- Advanced
analytical/problem solving and research skills along with statistical and
comparative analysis skills.
Required Length and Type of
Experience
- Strong
process flow expertise and expertise with business process redesign techniques
are required.
- Minimum of
5 years of project management, coding, health information management experience
in order to understand operations.
- Knowledge
of governmental, federal, state and local regulations related to billing rules
and compliance. Strong organization, communication and time management
skills are essential.
- Must have
demonstrated advanced spreadsheet (Excel) and database management and
programming skills (Access, SQL, visualBasic) as well as graphics and
word processing experience.
Required Licensure, Certification or
Registry
- Project
Management Certification preferred.
- CPC-H, RHIA, RHIT certification preferred.
Sit for prolonged periods of time.
Required Physical and Environmental
Demands
- Work and
move among all departments of Patient Financial Support Services. Lift up to 25
pounds.
- Manual dexterity to operate personal computers
and standard office machines. To transfer information from paper to computer,
from computer to computer, and to communicate in person and on the telephone.
Excellent hand/eye coordination.
