Position Summary

GCP wishes to hire a Communications Coordinator to advance the work of the CPMA by providing a high level of administrative and communications support services. This position will interact with a diverse regional network including partner organizations; businesses, civic and community leaders; residents; media contacts, funders and other stakeholders; peers in other entities and various vendors.

Essential Functions

Serve as a professional program support to the senior staff member of the program, including but limited to:

Provide and initiate a wide range of program support to the senior staff member:

      • Responsible for CPMA Web sites, including content management, postings, interactive functions and collaboration with partner organizations.
      • Implement assigned elements of the public relations, communications and marketing plan.
      • Support fundraising efforts, such as facilitating funder communications and scheduling meetings/follow up activities, and maintain database of contacts.
      • Maintain the regional leadership/community influencer database.
      • Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for completion of work assignments in the absence of a supervisor; provide responsive and timely feedback on status and progress of work activities.
      • Assist in the development of operating procedures and policies.
      • Evaluate the purchase of merchandise and equipment.
      • Work on special projects as assigned.

      • Provide suggestions, advice and support to supervisors.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of communications and public relations
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability
  • Ability to interact effectively with the public
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point) and Microsoft Outlook required
  • Proficiency in web content management tools
  • Familiarity and experience with social media channels
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with strong editing skills
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timeliness
  • Ability to deal with matters requiring confidentiality
