GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Director of Pharmacy Services is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the operations of a primary facility pharmacy location. This position serves as "responsible pharmacist" for the site according to the laws and regulations of the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. This position is responsible for assuring compliance with State, Federal, AOA and JCAHO rules, regulation and standards for handling medications in the organization. This position actively participates in facility, regional and Cleveland Clinic Health System operations, collaborates with other disciplines and assists in development and implementation of action plans to assure effective and efficient operations. The Director of Pharmacy provides leadership in establishing the Pharmacy Services vision and strategic planning in collaboration with the East Region hospitals and promotes a culture of collaboration among the Cleveland Clinic Regional Hospital Pharmacies. The position will serve as the facilitator for clinical and quality outcomes, by coordinating policies and procedures and the clinical resources of the East Region. This position will support the hospital specifically, as well as the Regional Hospitals, in successful recruitment and retention programs to generate the best possible candidates for open positions and future growth of the organization. The Director will work hand in hand with senior leadership, Medical Staff, and Nursing staff to promote service partnerships that encourage an environment of cooperation to the care of our patients.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • M.S. in Pharmacy, MBA, or Pharm.D with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience. In lieu of having a M.S. in  Pharmacy, MBA, or Pharm.D degree, a minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive inpatient hospital pharmacy experience in a  supervisory role is required.
  • Must have effective writing and communication skills
  • Must be self-directed and motivated
  • Strong customer service and team orientation
  • Experience with hospital pharmacy information system(s) and automation
  • Proficient in Windows PC operation and Microsoft Office

Required Length and Type of Experience

  • M.S. in Pharmacy, MBA, or Pharm D with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience. In lieu of having a M.S. in Pharmacy, MBA, or Pharm.D degree, a minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive inpatient hospital pharmacy experience in a supervisory role is required.

Required Registry, Certification, or Licensure

  • Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Ohio or Board Eligible

Required Physical and Environmental Demands

  • Dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions
  • Dexterity sufficient to perform medication preparation and compounding functions
  • Ability to lift material weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform duties while, walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting.
